It was great to welcome back 25 former staff and retirees to WGS for a BBQ lunch on Friday 7 August 2026.  For some it was catching up on the pasEither way, it is always a delight to see former staff back at WGS.

One highlight this year was the ‘guess the name’ quiz – with Chris O’Brien asking guests to put names to the faces in a staff photograph dating back to the early 1980s.  With much memory searching and the help of the ‘red book’ – all names were found! 

There was also a tour of the Sixth Form area which has had a refurbishment over the summer break.  It was interesting to hear how different staff remembered the space – showing how the building has changed over the years.

The date for next year’s Former Staff Lunch is Friday 6 August 2027.  Whether former teaching or support staff, a warm welcome is extended to all.  We hope you can join us!
