John Walton (OW 1946) sadly passed away at the age of 95.

Dear Member

It is with great sadness that I have to inform you that John passed away a few days ago, at the age of 95.

His wife, Sheila, rang me a couple of days ago to tell me the sad news and I of course passed on condolences on behalf of the OWA.

Reading the Wulfrunian magazines of John's days at School it is obvious that he was an excellent sportsman and his abilities on the football field certainly exemplified this. He later carried on playing for OWFC and again he made a notable contribution to their success.

I only really knew John in his later years, when he and I would have a few frames of snooker at the club at Castlecroft, whilst the late Tony Westwood and Herbert Hughes would be playing equally as badly on the next table!! However, John was delightful company and his reminiscences of the old days were always of interest.

Above all John was a gentleman and I will always remember him with great fondness.
