Message received from John's daughter, Alison:

It is with great sadness that Nigel and I share the news that our lovely father Dr John Darby passed away in the early hours of Saturday 6th January after a recent decline in health. He was 92 years old. He was a wise, loving and generous man. The funeral will be in Leicester and details will be available once known.

On hearing the news, Nic Anderson, Head, stated, “Dr John Darby was a wonderful teacher, colleague and friend at WGS. Florence and John were always at the heart of our school community when they were on the staff. We will all miss John greatly.”

As promised, here are the arrangements for John's funeral:

Tuesday 20th February at 2pm. 

Glenfield Methodist Church,

Glenfield,

Leicester,

LE3 8BT.

There will be coffee and cake after the service at the church. Family flowers only. 

Donation details from the funeral directors will be confirmed as soon as possible.

The family will attend a private committal at the crematorium immediately after the service.
